Oyo Rooms Review – My amazing experience of luxury within budgets

Oyo Rooms Review – My amazing experience of luxury within budgets
As a budget cash strapped traveller,
whether for pleasure or business, getting into a decent value for money
accommodation had always been a big task. The basic comforts and luxury that
can be expected also had to be compromised unless the traveller was willing to
loosen his purse strings.

Accommodation cost accounted for more
than three-fourth of the travel cost whereas the traveller hardly spends
one-fourth of his travelling time inside the hotel room.

This was set to go for a revolutionary
change with the advent of OYO, the name which has become synonymous with
comfortable budget stay in India, in just two years of its existence, having
started in 2013.

With a vision to become the largest
technology-enabled network of hotels globally, in just two years OYO rooms has
grown to more than 200 hotels in 10 cities booking around 50,000 room nights
every month with the immediate intention to expand its network to 1000 hotels
in 25 cities across the country by this year end.

The Gurgaon based Company led by Ritesh
Agarwal has been set up with the dream of offering the “OYO Rooms experience”
to every business, leisure and pilgrim traveller across these cities where it
will have its presence.

OYO is a win-win situation for the
consumer and the hotels alike with which they tie up. It leverages technology
to not only enable consumers to have hassle-free budget hotel booking
experience, it also helps these budget hotels and guesthouses to increase their
occupancy through the OYO network.

The dream behind this venture is to
get the presently large potential, but unorganized and fragmented economy stays
market, into an organized stream by bringing in a new, scalable and
customer-friendly approach and at the same time fulfilling their mission of
building the world’s largest technology-enabled hotel network.

OYO rooms recently had a campaign
across the country to increase the knowledge of its presence through the social
media and what better way to do it than spreading the word through the ever
powerful media of bloggers.

Bloggers across the country were
selected through the Company’s PR, Indiblogger, India’s largest blogging
portal. As part of this initiative, a lesser mortal like me was called upon to
experience and share my true and honest opinion on it.

The activity started off in grand
style with us checking in at Hotel Atlanta, Juhu, a OYO room along with nine
other amazing bloggers. The first impression stays the longest, it is said and
so true. Welcomed at the reception by the ever smiling Nijish, the OYO
coordinator for the event, I was promptly checked in to the comforts of my room
after the customary check-in procedures. The room was quite spacious and well
appointed, giving an impression that this is some place where I wouldn’t mind
coming back again.

The bathrooms were clean and tidy with
all the basic necessities quite decently placed.

As I was still sinking into
the budget luxuries offered, Nijish dropped in to hand over the props. The cap,
the umbrella and the sipper, the basic needs for the sultry summer afternoon
activity which was in store for us truly reflected the real OYO signature
style.

Once relaxed for some time, we
bloggers were called down to assemble in the hotel’s lobby to be briefed about
the facilities that OYO offers its consumers in its properties across the
country. I was quite impressed that at the budget stay on hand, a
well-appointed AC room, with free Wi-Fi and free breakfast is offered across
all properties. After the customary introductory session and the briefing, we
moved out for the amazing activities on store which we had to engage in
outdoors and tweet about.

Less to say and more to show, a feast
for the eyes; a photo collage of the amazing and crazy things we did, in real
OYO style.

Posing in front of the iconic Kishore Kumar Bungalow just next to the Hotel

Getting up and close with the people who keep the city safe

Selfie with the men in uniform, the khaki brigade

Cooling off with the little kids

The happy face of the little kids, so oblivious of the vagaries of life

The balloon seller. Earning a pittance but has the smile of contenment

The Kaala….

The Khattaa…..
Andd the Peela…..
Together they make Mumbai, the Kaali-Peeli and the Kaala-Khatta

The poor man’s Amitabh. Harboring a dream

Relishing the Vada-paav, Mumbai’s most favorite street food

A random rendezvous with a complete stranger

Mein toh raste se jaa raha tha… tujhe mirchi lagi toh mein kya karoon

The sun setting over the western sky

The son rising… and the sun setting.

Like father…. like son

The Chatrapati of Maharashtra in the backdrop, and the Chatrapatis of tomorrow with me

Hitching a ride back home on a scooter.

The movies, which make Mumbai the city of dreams

Treading the road , where no man has ever gone before

A final ride back on Mumbai’s favorite public transport, the three-wheeled auto-rickshaw
Though absolutely entertaining, tiring
of course it was and what better way to wind up than to just sink into the cozy
comforts of a OYO room and that’s exactly what I did.

Good night OYO, I said to retire for
the night and dream of the comforts and pleasures of the stay at this amazing
OYO room and imagine the wonderful breakfast in store for the next morning
before I would check out with a promise that OYO is my choice for the budget
comfortable stay, anywhere in this country.
