As the name itself suggests, the CMO Summit is a conference of the top notch Chief Marketing Officers and Marketing heads of the various Indian Corporates.
The Summit is an annual event organised by Pitch, the marketing magazine of the exchange4media group and is spread across various cities of the country. The Pitch CMO Summit 2016 was held in Mumbai at the Hotel Grand Hyatt on 4th of March.
The event witnessed the gathering of the best minds and brains in the business of marketing who brainstormed the session in a series of panel discussions revolving around marketing in the context of today’s business uncertainties and how best the these vagaries of doing business and retaining customers can be resolved by marketing the products and services to the Indian consumer in this dynamic environment.
The event commenced on a high note with the welcome address by Mr. Anurag Batra, Founder Exchange4Media followed by a special address by Mr. Sandeep Kaul, ITC who talked at length on the theme for this year’s summit, i.e. Changing face of brand experience. After the briefing, the dignitaries present witnessed a highly charged one on one with Mr. Vikram Sakhuja, Group CEO Madison Media and OOH Madison World.
As the atmosphere heated up, the event saw presentations by the marketing head honchos of the top level corporates of the country keeping the audience spell bound with their knowledge of the marketing world.
The dignitaries who presented their view point on the varied topics were Mr. Vivek Sharma, CMO Pidilite who shed light on the topic of Experience and Brand are one and the same. He was followed by Mr. Sumeet Narang, Bajaj Auto who highlighted his view point on Brand Experience beyond point of sale. Soon after, Mr. Harpreet Singh Tibb, Kellog India shared his practical experience on Brands are using content marketing to build equities and drive sales.
After a brief intermission, the presentations continued with Mr. Amit Shah, Yes Bank delving on the subject of Advertising in the era of evolving media followed by Mr. Pawan Singh of Amul lighting up the mood taking us through the journey of Amul with a talk on Brand Legacy during Innovation.
Once the presentation were over, the long awaited debate commenced and the stage was set to light by the four participants divided into two teams, one for and one against on the topic of Today, importance of digital media is overrated when it comes to marketing of consumer packaged good and services.
The panelists, Mr. Partha Sinha, McCann Worldgroup, Mr. Ajay Kakkar, Aditya Birla Group, Mr. Sanjay Tripathy, HDFC Life and Mr. Carlton D’Silva, Hungama Digital Services, were quite vocal in their views and counter arguments and provided the audience an opportunity to form an unbiased opinion on the subject.
After a brief felicitation of the speakers, the dining was thrown open with plenty of wine, liquor and cocktails and an array of lip smacking food to go with it.
