The story of Mee Raqsam revolves around a father-daughter relationship, which is inspired by the relationship that his sister, Actor Shabana Azmi shared with their father and celebrated poet Kaifi Azmi.
To be released exclusively on ZEE5, this is an inspiring tale about a father standing resolutely behind his young daughter’s desire to dance.
The story has Danish Husain playing the role of Salim inspiring and motivating his daughter Mariam, played by Aditi Subedi, to pursue her dream of becoming a dancer against all odds. It beautifully portrays the father-daughter relationship. It is about a daughter’s aspiration and her father supporting her dreams and choices irrespective of what the society says. It shows the power of this beautiful bond.
What all movie lovers will be longing is to watch veteran actor, Naseeruddin Shah, who will be seen in the role of a community leader in this movie. His role portrays a humanity lens on patriarchy and religion.
The simplicity of this film will grapple the audience in absolute awe, as this movie is made with a lot of love and purity. Shabana Azmi presents the film as a homage to her father Kaifi Azmi who was one of the torchbearers of India’s composite culture, which the film celebrates.

The first trailer Mee Raqsam is out which shows Danish Hussain as a loving father to his daughter, who wants to learn Bharatnatyam.
Baba Azmi is making his directorial debut with this movie which is completely shot it in Mijwan, the birthplace of his late father, near Azamgarh and its surrounding areas.
The debutante Director says that this movie is an ode to his late father who had always wished that his son to shoot a film in Mijwan. The Director also admits that it was a formidable task as it was a village with no roads, no amenities, and no infrastructure. He adds that he feels proud to have his directorial debut as a tribute to his father Kaifi Azmi.
