BOLT, the name itself suggests
the features. Do I need to say more? As per the Company, the name Bolt itself
signifies speed and represents a winner’s attitude, and believe me, I give it
full 100% on this remark.

The Tata Bolt, the newest
hatchback to hit the automobile is the latest offering from Tata Motors. Though
based on the well known X1 platform which underpins the Vista and featuring the
all too familiar silhouette, it is a whole new animal in terms of features and
overall design philosophy.

Loaded with amazing features, you
just can’t take your eyes off this mean machine. The features are just
breathtaking. We cannot even imagine having these features in a hatchback of
this category.

1.2L Turbo charged MPFi Engine with first-in-class multi-drive mode
2.       Harman
touchsreen multimedia system
3.       Video
recognition and SMS readouts.
4.       New
signature front grille
5.       Projector
headlamps
6.       Speed
dependent volume control
7.       Rugby
shoulder seats.

An excellent ride quality, impressive
brakes, spacious, comfortable, well equipped, better built and engineered,
offers modern engine, rides well, is spacious and smart looking, I can just go
on and on. It certainly has the potential to do well.

The exteriors are just amazing. At
the front, it gets an aggressive fascia, new grille and sleek headlights that
stretch from the middle of the bonnet to the grille, and the abundant amount of
chrome in it it gives it that absolute premium look. The sides are equally
amazing, with the window lines swooping down in a curve towards the rear hatch.

The interior setup features
seemingly premium plastics as well as gauges mounted behind the steering and a
touch screen created by Harman.

I am not a technical geek, but
what I have learnt is that the Bolt offers a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol powered
producing 84bhp/140Nm or a 1.3-litre Quadrajet diesel engine. The transmission
option is only a five-speed manual one now, I presume, though I would honestly
love to see an automatic transmission variant also to be launched by the
Company.

I just cannot stop boasting of
the amazing new features of the new Bolt, but if I am asked to specifically
identify five features, these are what distinctly stand out:
1.       Multi-drive:
First time ever, we have the option to choose between Sport-Eco-City.
… I would
choose the sport mode when I need a burst of power, Eco mode for efficient fuel
efficiency or city mode for a perfect balance between the two.

2.       Revotron
1.2: Turbocharged MPFi Petrol Engine.
….. This is what would give me an
exceptionally powerful driving experience.

3.       Generation
Next Safety with 9th Gen by Bosch, Corner Stability control and dual airbags.

This helps me stay in control at all times and drive safe with the advanced
safety features.

4.       Space
and comfort: Segment Superior.
…. I would just love to experience the spacious
interiors as I sink into the comfortable rugby shoulder seats.

5.       Connectnext:
Touchscreen Infotainment by Harman.
…. While on the move, this is what would
enable me to access an array of entertainment and connectivity features like
smartphone enabled navigation from MapMyIndia and advanced voice command
recognition.


Everything about this car boasts of
newness, whether in terms of design (DesigNext), drivablilty (DriveNext) or
connectivity (ConnectNext). Believe me, it’s a car which is expected to
leapfrog Tata Motors to a new era and Tata Bolt is all set to be the
next-generation global car.

The smaller cousin to the compact
sedan, Zest and successor to the Vista, this new hatchback from the Tata Motors
stable comes with not only an amazing all-new exterior, but an all-new interior
and a turbo-petrol engine as well.
As I just keep staring at its
beautiful exterior, I cannot just lay my eyes off the neatly executed grille
and headlight combo on the front, absolutely in synchronization with the new
design tail lights and the chrome bar over the number plate giving the rear a
superb distinct look. The C-pillar having been blackened out gives it a feeling
of a “floating” roof.
Though not tall by any standards
myself, still I would go gaga over the large amount of head and shoulder room inside,
both in front and in the rear, along with the large seats  with long base, and well cushioned to give
absolute comfort, giving me a feeling of a huge car.  The legroom is also amazingly large to put any
large size sedans to shame.

The upholstery is also of top class quality in
fit and finish. The new dash board is also amazing with the new steering wheel
and centre console featuring the metallic inserts that look really artistic.
Giving further push-up to the artistic look is the chrome piping around the
vents, on the gear lever or between the buttons.

All-in-all,
as the name suggests, let’s be prepared to BOLT, as Tata Motors has come out
with this amazing car to “B”uild “O”ur “L”ives “T”ogether.

It
surely delivers much more against its expected price. Rather, I would not mind
saying that it is surely “More Car Per Car”, exactly what Tata Motors has
always promised and delivered till now.
