Indian History is not just interesting but has also amused us with a sense of wonder.

Curious thoughts doubting the advanced knowledge we possessed 2000-2000 years ago have always crossed our mind. One such thought comes to us when we visit the Somnath Temple in Gujarat.

There is a pillar in the premises of the temple, known as Baan Stambh (Arrow Pillar). It is difficult to say when this pillar was constructed. History books have a mention of this pillar somewhere in the sixth century, which proves that it may have been constructed prior to that time.

During our childhood, train journeys used to be really exciting, something that we used to look forward to for months from the day the father used to inform us that the tickets have been booked and reservations have been confirmed.

That was a time when we could not afford a first class or an air-conditioned travel and the journey used to be in three-tier non-air-conditioned compartments.

The excitement would start as soon as we reached the railway station; much before the train began its leisurely rolling, wiping way the station from our sights for the fields to appear, green under the mist, the electric poles running in the opposite direction and the  occasional sight of birds ferrying between trees.

Sandeep lied to himself for so long; he thought doing that would make moving on much easier for him. He had buried the pain of the past so deeply that he had hoped he had finally dealt with it.

It was not long that he realized that’s not how true healing works. He realised that it was actually far from it. He was foolishly trying to hide from the things and people that once hurt him. He assumed that’s the same as making peace with the past.
